Parthenon and Democratic Architecture

Q Before tackling this writing assignment, be sure you've read in Canvas and watched the videos about ancient Athens, the Parthenon, and democracy. Prompts First, how is the Parthenon symbolic of democracy? Or, what does the Parthenon say about democracy? Basically explain the connection between the Parthenon and democratic government. Make your answer vivid by including lots of specific details, but also be sure the big picture of your answer comes through. Second, what is any building in the United States that you associate with democracy? Describe this building, and explain why it is associated with democratic government. Think about the physical features of this building, and the physical features of the Parthenon, and explain any physical similarity between the two buildings. Notes on substance and style • As always in this class, be sure to write more than one paragraph. There are two prompts, so it's a good idea to write at least two paragraphs. • Write enough to explore each question. Think of ideas as you write, and then explore them. Write at least several sentences for each prompt. • There is no single "right answer" here — however, I would like to see some careful thought, and clear writing! o Be sure it's clear that you understand what the Parthenon is all about, and how it fits into the history of ancient Athens and its democracy, and how the cultural influence of the Parthenon lasts to this day. The Parthenon is symbolic of democracy. It is a readily recognizable icon. School children are required to have an idea of the importance of the building. This is to help pass its importance across generations. Its construction was the first step that showed the power of its democratic view. It is said that its construction was intense and that its completed work comprised consolations from different members. I find the consolations to its construction setting forth a democratic light. Besides, the origin of the meaning of the Parthenon, despite being debatable, outlines a form of purity. Scholars
